IndiaMART BuyLead management: a practical guide for sellers

How to review, filter and respond to IndiaMART BuyLeads consistently, which details matter most, and where automation helps without adding risk.

Updated · 7 min read

Most IndiaMART sellers see more BuyLeads than they can act on. The difference between a lead that turns into an order and one that does not is often speed and fit: responding quickly to the BuyLeads that match what you actually sell, and ignoring the rest.

Decide what a good lead looks like

Before changing any process, write down the attributes of leads you want. Be specific enough that two people on your team would make the same decision about the same lead.

  • Products or services, including the words buyers actually use (for example "cnc lathe machine" and "cnc turning machine").
  • Locations you can serve or ship to economically.
  • Minimum order size or budget that makes the deal worthwhile.
  • Requests you never want: repairs, jobs, second-hand equipment, or categories you do not stock.

Review leads in a fixed order

A consistent order of checks prevents mistakes. Start with the reasons to reject, because a single exclusion (for example "repair") should outweigh any number of matching keywords.

  1. Exclusions: does the lead contain anything you never want?
  2. Requirements: is the location, category or quantity acceptable?
  3. Inclusions: does it mention at least one of your products?
  4. Nice-to-haves: urgency, larger budgets, repeat buyers.

Track what happens after you buy a lead

Keep a simple record of which leads you bought and whether they converted. After a few weeks, adjust your keywords: add terms that appear in leads that converted and exclusions for patterns that never do.

Where automation helps — and where it should stop

Automation is useful for the repetitive part: watching for new leads and applying the same checks every time, including at night or during meetings. It should stop at anything that needs human judgement or security checks. A responsible tool works inside your own signed-in session, never asks for your marketplace password, pauses when a CAPTCHA or sign-in appears, and enforces daily limits so a configuration mistake cannot spend your whole budget.

Start in test mode

Whatever tool you use, run your filters in a test mode first and compare its decisions with your own for a few days. Only enable live actions when you agree with what it would have done.

Try it on your own leads, in Test Mode

See which leads your filters would buy before anything is purchased. 14-day trial, no card required.
